SpudSchool
Privacy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
The short version: anything you type into SpudSchool stays on your device. We never receive it, store it, or send it anywhere. We set no cookies.
Where your data lives
Class lists, reports, seating plans, timetables and name-picker history are saved only in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB and local storage) on the computer you are using. There is no account, no login, and no server-side database. Closing the tab keeps your work; clearing your browser's site data removes it.
What we ask you to enter
By design, the tools only need a pupil's first name and last initial plus a few categorical flags (for example ability, behaviour or pupil premium). Because everything stays in your browser we never see any of it — but as a matter of good practice it is always best to share the minimum data needed to get the job done. There is no reason to enter full names, dates of birth, addresses or anything more identifying than the tools actually require.
Who is the data controller?
Because anything you type stays on your device and never reaches us, we do not receive, process or store any pupil data. Your school remains the sole data controller for the information you enter, and SpudSchool is not a data processor of it. We have no copy to access, share, lose or be compelled to hand over.
Your rights over your data
Since everything is local, you exercise your data rights directly and instantly — no request to us required:
- Access & portability: export everything to a single file from the Classes page.
- Rectification: edit any class, report or plan in the tool itself.
- Erasure:clear your data from the Classes page, or clear your browser's site data, at any time.
Keep your export file somewhere safe — because we hold no copy, it is the only backup.
Cookies and analytics
SpudSchool sets no cookies and does no advertising or cross-site tracking. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count how often each tool is opened, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure how quickly pages load. Both are cookieless, collect only aggregate, anonymous figures, and cannot identify you or any pupil — they only tell us which tools are useful and where the app feels slow, so we know what to build and fix next. You can read Vercel's privacy policy for details of how the hosting and analytics provider operates.
Getting in touch
SpudSchool is an early product, and we're still finalising our contact details — they'll be added here soon. In the meantime, because everything you type stays on your own device, there's nothing we hold about you that you'd need to ask us about: you can export or clear your data yourself from the Classes page at any time.
